DATA LOGGERS OBLIGATORY FOR REEFER SHIPMENTS TO SAUDI ARABIA
Dear customer,
We would like to draw your attention to a warning issued by the authorities in Saudi Arabia with regard to refrigerated or frozen import shipments. Reefer containers will be rejected for unloading and re-exported to the country of origin if no data logger is available.
The Saudi Food & Drug Authority did issue a statement informing that “all importers must comply with all transportation and storage requirement as published in the Authority’s website” (www.sfda.gov.sa/en). They warn that “failure to comply with transport and storage requirements will result in the refusal to release shipments”.
Data loggers or temperature monitors should be placed “for products that are sensitive to temperature changes (less than 8°C), the monitor must be placed in each pallet. (…) For products shipped in controlled cold containers and are not highly sensitive to temperature changes (room temperature condition), at least one monitor must be placed in the container.”
For more detailed information, please liaise with your customer/importer and the local authorities.
