Service changes: Europe – Australia

Please note some changes will be taking place on the Australia coverage out of Northern Europe. As from Q3 2019 the direct service from CMA CGM (NEMO) & Hapag Lloyd ( EAX) will cease to exist.

Hapag-Lloyd is going to introduce a new service concept via Singapore, providing faster transit times to all major ports in Australia.

MSC & CMA CGM will start a Shared Vessel Agreement (as from Q3 2019) linking North Europe and Mediterranean to Indian Ocean and Australia on the southbound leg and Australia to South-East Asia / South-East India and Europe on the northbound leg. An upgraded fleet of 14 vessels will be deployed on this new service.

    • 9 vessels will be provided by MSC
    • 5 vessels by CMA CGM
    • Direct calls in North Europe ex Antwerp, Rotterdam & Hamburg
    • the only direct call left out of North-Europe to Australia

Total allocation ex Northern Europe on a direct service will go down from 13500 teu per week to 8000 teu per week.

Although it’s a little early, it can be expected that space might become an issue - subsequently rates will be under pressure as well.

We will keep you posted on all developments
